Loot I Love: Miu Miu Vitello leather tote

I have had the net-a-porter listing for this Miu Miu tote (RRP£800) bookmarked for a good four weeks now.

Every couple of days I open it up, morally wrestle with my conscience, recalculate my budget, mentally scroll through my existing handbags & match it to various pieces in my wardrobe.

So far I've resisted. But I'm not sure how much longer I can hold out....

Blake Lively the new face of Chanel

With so many snaps doing the rounds of Karl Lagerfeld and Blake Lively cosying up at fashion shows, it should come as no surprise that the leggy Gossip Girl star has reportedly been named as the new face of Chanel, and will star in the latest ad campaign for the French fashion house.

The 23-year-old stylish star was photographed with Lagerfeld throughout fashion week in the summer, and even sat front row next to the fashion stalwart at the Chanel Hauté Couture show during Paris Hauté Couture Fashion Week in July.

Lively joins fellow Chanel 'ambassadors', Alexa Chung, Emma Watson and French actress Anna Mouglalis.

Mulberry launches swimwear for Resort 2011

Just in time for the summer holidays, Mulberry has released it's first ever resort collection.

Already a favourite of Kate Bosworth, Alexa Chung and Kelly Osbourne, the new collection features a line of bikinis and raffia totes. The "Edie" bag - a hybrid of the "Alexa" bag and the classic "Bayswater" bag - comes in natural shades such as beige and oak and will no doubt be seen on the arms of many a fashionista.

Mulberry's Resort 2011 collection is available online at www.mulberry.com.

Campaigns I Love: Ladies who lunch à la Louis Vuitton

It appeared awhile ago now, but I just had to revisit the stunning '50s style Louis Vuitton Fall 2010 Campaign.

Starring Christy Turlington, Natalia Vodianova & Karen Elson, & shot by iconic fashion photographer Steven Meisel, the ads feature the ladies coiffing themselves in a backstage dressing room, wearing ladylike dresses that nevertheless reveal ample cleavage.

According to Antoine Arnault, Vuitton’s director of communications, "The atmosphere was very '50s, very elegant."

Gorgeous.

LA-bound: will return with Balenciaga, Coach, Erdem, Phillip Lim & more

Letting Them Eat Cake has gone to LA for her annual US shop and will be back in two weeks. Can't wait to show you all the loot when I return!

Latest Loot: Diane Von Furstenberg Masons scarf

"Inspiration is not something that can be explained."

So says the formidable Diane Von Furstenberg, who has garnered enough inexplicable inspiration to become a major fashion stalwart over the years.

From her iconic creation, the curve-hugging DVF wrap dress to her snazzy accessories (like my latest purchase - the Diane von Furstenberg Masons 'Snow Pony Cool' scarf), Von Furstenberg's designs I think just keep getting better with age.

Sleeping Beauty: with a SILK pillowcase

I love staying overnight in a hotel. Whether I'm travelling to a far-flung destination or spending the weekend at a quaint B&B, nothing beats fresh, fluffy towels every morning, on-call room service & having someone else make your bed each morning.

But one thing I do miss when I travel is my own pillowcase. I have a SLIP Anti-Ageing, Anti-Sleep-Crease 100% Silk Pillowcase (RRP$59.95), which is kinder to your face (& hair) than regular cotton pillowcases, which continuously tug at delicate parts of the face and neck.

Considering we spend up to a third of our lives in bed, investing in a pillowcase that will prevent those pesky "sleep-creases" & "bed-hair" should be a no-brainer.

You can view the entire SILK range, which also includes sleep masks, here.

Belt up in style: classic Hermès or embellished Lanvin?

I love belts.

Simply, love them.

And why wouldn't I? They define your waist, add structure to a billowing knit, vamp up a basic shift dress.

In fact, I've realised that I pretty much wear a belt with every outfit.

From a wide, patent leather staple from Fendi, to a bright and cheerfully tangerine Michael Kors strap,
whichever kind of belt you opt for they all channel a different fashion mood.

1. Classic: Hermès

2. Perforated: Alaïa

3. Vamp: Ralph Lauren

4. Embellished: Lanvin

5. Defining: Kiki de Montparnasse

6. Glittering: Marc by Marc Jacobs

Latest Loot: Jigsaw's well-placed pieces

In all honesty I was never really a huge fan of Jigsaw. Their clothes were a little too "Laura Ashley" for my taste - all pastel florals which usually suit five-year-old girls. But in the last couple of years I think they've really started to raise the bar; surely thanks in part to the appointment of ex-Gucci designer, Stephen Lisseman. Case in point: my Latest Loot.

Latest Loot: Witchery stash

It's no secret that I'm a huge Witchery fan.

I think they do great basics, which are reasonably priced & take the guess work out of getting ready for a low-key outing. I'm also not adverse to their one-off seasonal pieces that are both functional & feminine.

I usually try to drop in at least once a fortnight & invariably end up walking out with quite a stash.

My latest visit saw me take home:

1. Safari Pocket Detail Jacket (RRP$129.95)

2. Textured Print Zip Front Skirt (RRP$89.95)

3/4. V Neck Pocket Front Tunic Tee in both khaki/oatmeal & charcoal marle (RRP$89.95)

5. Rouch Zip Leggings (RRP$19.95)

6. Alice Ballet Flats (RRP$69.95)

7. Caitlin Aviator Sunglasses (RRP$69.95)

8. Pearl Charm Ring (RRP$39.95)

Interior stylist blogroll: Decorology, Made By Girl, decor8 et al

I occasionally have fashion schizophrenia.

One minute I'm channeling the Mad Men-inspired throwback to the 50s & early 60s - with gorgeous tea dresses, natty scarves and pearls and perfect grooming, the next I'm lusting over Alexa Chung's laid-back, London street chic.

Unfortunately this also extends to my home
decor, which means I'm constantly buying new cushions, lampshades and little knick knacks that either say French Provincial or Scandinavian Minimalism.

So in a bid to stem my frequent homewares shopping sprees I've started to live vicariously through various interior styling blogs. In no particular order I can highly recommend:

Online shoppers & Marc Jacobs lovers rejoice!

The New York-based designer has taken his wares online at Marcjacobs.com, creating a fun, “virtual” shopping experience that features a boutique façade and helpful cartoon sales assistants.

“It’s going back to the roots of the Marc Jacobs brand… fun, entertaining, engaging, and cool,” says James Gardner, CEO of the site’s design firm.

Kate Sylvester opens first Sydney store

The very first Kate Sylvester store opened this morning in Sydney, with further store roll outs currently under consideration.

The flagship store, located at 168 Oxford Street, Paddington, is chock full of Kate Sylvester's signature pieces, including sequinned leggings & summery dresses.

The first collection to drop into the new store will be the Spring/Summer 'Take A Hike' range, which Sylvester debuted at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week (RAFW) in May 2009.

Says Sylvester: "We've been planning to open an Australian store for a couple of years & it was just a matter of finding the right location. We are really looking forward to showing our Australian customers our entire brand vision through the retail store, not to mention offering our collections in their entirety."

"We are definitely keen to open at other Australian locations in the future," says Sylvester. "We have a fantastic customer base in Melbourne so that is a location we are thinking about."

The store will also stock Kate Sylvester eyewear & footwear, plus a range of bags, jewellery, lingerie & accessories from other labels, including Lollapalooza, Zoe Mou, Ilse Jaconson, Meadow Lark & Elke.

Christopher Bailey of Burberry named 'Designer of the Year'

At the British Fashion Awards last night, Burberry's creative director, Christopher Bailey, was named the British Fashion Council's (BFC) 'Designer of the Year'.

The win capped a stellar year for Bailey, who received the MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours earlier this year, and whose Spring/Summer 2010 Burberry Prorsum collection was the highlight of London Fashion Week, in September.

In his acceptance speech, Bailey announced that Burberry Prorsum would continue to show at London Fashion Week in February.

Other award-winners on the night included John Galliano, who received the Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design award, American Vogue's creative director, Grace Coddington who collected the Isabella Blow award for Fashion Creator and Georgia May Jagger, the 17-year-old daughter of Rolling Stone's Sir Mick Jagger, who was named ‘Model of the Year’, following her success as the face of Hudson Jeans and the Versace Spring/Summer 2010 campaign.
